22ma edizione del National Education & Leadership Awards (NELA)

Franco Nuschese arci premiato in Patria e negli Stati Uniti d'America fa parte di quell'America dei rapporti diplomatici ed internazionali che lo vedono coinvolto nei momenti più importanti della vita americana: dalla election del presidente Bill Clinton all'election del presidente Obama.
Domani sera 26 maggio 2010 Franco Nuschese nel corso della 22ma edizione del National Education & Leadership Awards (NELA) durante la grande convention dei Sons of Italy introdurrà la performance di Quincy Jones e ringrazierà i partecipanti fra i quali il presidente italiano Giorgio Napolitano. Il testo del suo speech:

Buona Sera // Good evening, Before I introduce our first guest, I'd like to acknowledge President Clinton, President Napolitano

… volevo cogliere l’occasione per ricordare a questa eccellentissima audience che il Presidente Giorgio Napolitano ha dedicato la sua vita a dare spazio alla cultura, che non c’è un altro uomo politico in Italia del suo pari, anche tenendo in conto che ha fatto tutto ciò partendo da una Napoli negli anni della ricostruzione del dopoguerra. La sua tesi di laurea su "Il mancato sviluppo industriale del Mezzogiorno dopo l'unità e la legge speciale per Napoli del 1904" è solo l’inizio poi ha collaborato ed è stato fra i fondatori di strutture avveniristiche che neanche oggi esistono: come il Centro Economico Italiano per il Mezzogiorno, il Movimento per la Rinascita del Mezzogiorno, etc. il resto è dominio pubblico. Credo che il Presidente Napoletano ci abbia preceduto tutti per quanto riguarda la visione del futuro. E mentre lui lavorava nell’ambito del Mezzogiorno e poi su scala italiana io ed altri operatori del made in Italy siamo venuti qui negli Stati Uniti dove il Presidente Napoletano anche qui ci aveva preceduti con abbondante anticipo. Già a partire dagli anni '70, aveva svolto una vasta attività di conferenze all'estero negli istituti di politica internazionale di Gran Bretagna e Germania, e qui presso numerose Università degli Stati Uniti: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Chicago, Berkeley, e proprio qui a Washington al Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) e al Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Ancora grazie per essere qui con noi stasera …

Tonight, I have the distinct honor of setting the stage for what will surely be a most memorable evening.

I met our first guest many years ago. He worked in Las Vegas, I worked in Las Vegas, and during that time, a lot was going on... Needless to say, we became great friends. He brags that he's half-Italian, and calls me "fratellino," his younger brother... // and he actually says it in Italian.
I'll never forget the time we were having dinner and I noticed a very distinct ring on his baby finger. When I asked him about it, he told me that the Godfather had given it to him before he died. Of course, Frank Sinatra could not have relied on anyone better to continue his musical legacy.

Most people know our guest as a world-famous composer, arranger and producer who has received countless awards. Some experience his goodness thru his charity work with many organizations including the Special Olympics and the American Federation for AIDS Research. I had the fortune to work and host a dinner for him in Rome as apart of the "We Are the Future" benefit concert.

He's done many great things, but in my opinion, as an Italian-American,//his most important work was producing, L.A. Is My Lady for ol' BlueEyes.

To me, he has always been a warm, accessible, and charming person. It has been an honor to get to know him, and a privilege to call him my friend.

To borrow a phrase that he often uses to describe good people... he's just "a beautiful cat".

And now...it is with great pleasure that I introduce a man who is clever and witty, and I could go on and on, except... // I'm having a hard time reading his handwriting.
